We have developed a computational approach to optimize the tile performance using microclimatic data such as solar radiation, water turbidity, and storm surge data.

Solar Radiation Data

Using an optimization algorithm and Solar Radiation Data as input, I increased the thermal comfort for marine habitat along the intertidal zone by varying the height and creating self shading surfaces.

Projected Storm Surge Depth Map

A storm surge category 4, CAT4, Data was used to determine the high-risk zones and adjust the Bio Tiles height accordingly.

Collected More Sediment: 

An optimization algorithm was used to water data collected from on-site buoy. The greater the turbidity level of the water, the steeper the slope becomes to collect more sediments.
