Coastal Intervention
ABOUT US
WE DO THINGS DIFFERENTLY
Our Innovative System is hybrid infrastructure (gray + green) which incorporates natural features such as mangrove, saltmarsh, and seagrass for extra protection. This multipurpose Artificial landscape not only prevent coastal erosion, but it also collects sediment, filters water runoff, promotes biodiversity, and at the same time, create an aesthetic pleasing landscape to reconnect people to nature.

Questions
What Are the Coastal Problems due to Climate Change ?
Our coastlines are under significant distress due severe weather events such as tropical storms, hurricanes and high tides. Extensive coastal erosion, frequent flooding, heigh sedimentation and the depopulation of marine species are only a few of these environmental issues. In addition, increased sedimentation, and turbidity levels led to lower water quality.
Construction
Material Testing
The aim of this experiment is to develop a more environmentally friendly concrete mix design and minimize the pollution caused by concrete manufacture. As a result, I lowered the cement ratio by replacing volcanic ash and lime powder with cement. I also used Olivine, a naturally mineral that absorbs CO2 from water and lowers its acidity.
Construction
Prototyping
The production of the tiles uses digital manufacturing and robotic construction to produce reusable and flexible formwork for fabrication of the tiles on site. Furthermore, we have evaluated various concrete mixtures, including recycled materials and additives to concrete that reduce acidity of the water and capture carbon dioxide. This has led to the development a less harmful concrete to the environment.
