NiSARA STUDIO

“Most Beautiful”

Nisara Studio

was founded as a collaborative space where design, science, and care converge. Rooted in a vision of nature as both guide and partner, the studio explores how computational design and material innovation can support living systems. NISARA stands at the threshold between land and sea — crafting adaptive infrastructures that invite resilience, biodiversity, and belonging.

Our Intervention

Bio-Marine Tile

Bio-Marine tiles are a multifunctional coastal protection system that incorporates eco-enhanced concrete infrastructure with natural features to create a robust and visually appealing shoreline. These tiles not only defend against coastal erosion but enhance biodiversity, while filtering the stormwater and retaining sediment. All features support restoration of coastal mangroves.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHT

Our Goals

Our goal is to construct resilient and performative responsive solutions that incorporate natural elements. The aim is to develop a landscape place where people, plants, and marine creatures can collaborate to mitigate the consequences of climate change on our ecosystem.

Data-Driven DESIGN

We have developed a computational approach to optimize the tile performance using microclimatic data such as solar radiation, water turbidity, and storm surge data. Using advanced simulation software various materials, shapes, textures, interlocking mechanisms, orientation to sun and waves have been examined to optimize tile performance.

“We help people living along the coastline in becoming more resilient and appreciating their environment by applying and designing a nature-based solution to create a pleasant and multipurpose artificial landscape.”
